Always Wondering About Me

Today I gave my attention to a leaf
an early sign
as the gums let go their weight
before the rains of autumn,
nature is always wondering about me,
making sure I know,
giving me signs,
leading me to deeper thoughts
and heartfelt wholeness.

Inscrutable You

It's that look, the blank look,
the unreadable you.
I wonder what you're thinking,
what you're hiding.
Why? why don't I,
Why can't I know?
Will you show your hand when I call?
Maybe I'm bluffing,
but you, you're impenetrable.
I can't beat the dab hand of your inscrutable look,
that look,
that keeps me wondering.
