“The human capacity for burden is like bamboo – far more flexible than you’d ever believe at first glance.”  Jodi Picoult

The Long Game

It is best to play the long game,
to know what sacrifices need to be made
in order to claim something more,
to measure the inches of resistance
and understand the pain,
knowing when to act,
holding it all together
as the world slides away,
and, while others gasp,
to calmly hold the space.
