The Ear Of The Heart – a poem by Paul Vincent Cannon

At dVerse Lillian is hosting Poetics with an invitation to write a poem choosing a name from a Ben and Jerry’s list of ice-creams. For more info follow the link below:

dVerse Poets – Poetics – Make Mine A Double-dipper

The name I chose to use in my poem is: Miz Jelena’s Sweet Potato Pie.

“For a word to be spoken, there must be silence. Before, and after.” Ursula K. Le Guin

The Ear Of The Heart

Not just for Miz Jelena's sweet potato pie
is her path well trod, or her sweet-peas
admired, or her door wide to the world,
such wonderful things are not the sum,
it is the certainty of being heard,
Miz Jelena has a heart ear that holds
all of you in the telling.
