“There’s never an end for the sea.” Samuel Beckett

So Serene

So serene,
the gentleness of blue on blue,
that old exchange between sea and sky
speaking soft whispers to me,
though energy pervades the horizon
as clouds gather ready to bear change,
might it, or might it not rain today or
tomorrow, will the sound of wind cover
everything to a deafness, and I cannot
decide whether the foreground wall of
rock entertains a break as gate or lure,
but either way danger lurks, and yet,
through it all Collins has kept a peace
that holds in the languid seaweed
floating in quiet confidence to which
I feel invited.
