To Be A Voice

As a child I heard your words
and did not know them,
later I could feel them,
roused as
one feels anything so powerful,
they pulsed,
electrifying,
lighting my fire
driving me on,
leaving no escape
nor hiding place,
other than to be a voice
in the same wilderness.
