“There is always some madness in love. But there is also always some reason in madness.”  Friedrich Nietzsche

Exquisite Lightness

Time had hardly begun
though time was a pure farrago,
strange how chaos can be so organised
to be such exquisite lightness
and now we are really floating.

I Remember – a poem by Paul Vincent Cannon

5 Lines – The Beach

I Remember

When I have whelved all my thoughts to the
point that I dwell in anomia
I go to the edge to listen to the wind calling,
while the water caresses,
and I remember your laughter.

5 Lines – Voices

You Really Shouldn’t

Nurturing the pain and stealing
jealous moments I cruise the depths
of my darkness, but you just laughed
and you really shouldn’t have because
the voices in my head don’t like that.

Spiced With Love – a poem by Paul Vincent Cannon

5 Lines – Potluck – In Other Words

Spiced With Love

We had a little gathering from all along our street,
a Bob, a Jane or two, a Susan, James and more,
all placed a gift or three in our communal pot,
from generosity to empathy and listening stirred right in,
while some so very carefully spiced it with their love.

Pedlar

Hand wringing vestige of a lapdog
always angling down your own road
schmoozing oily paeans for gain
dripping your heart’s desires so secret,
you selfish panegyric pedlar.

Too Many – a poem by Paul Vincent Cannon

5 Lines – Unhappy

Photo: Lake Brown, just below Eaglestone Rock (Nungarin), just as the sun is setting, the moon visible. Lake Brown has always been a natural salt lake, but human impact has exacerbated the salinity and balance of the lake’s eco-system.

Too Many

I walked the lake around today and
said a prayer for the one tree who
had sighed its last lying in the midden
of our lust and sorrows, lachrymose,
I have said too many prayers of late.

So Pretty

So pretty even Manfred hit you up
vanguard of birthdays and anniversaries
blood red feathered flame of life
beautiful to behold your everything
touch me with your slender grace.

Vibrant

I invited you once to tea
in those salad days of summer past,
you were a vibrant garland
that bordered my soul
with hope.

Note: the humble Calendula – Marigold, is one of my fave flowers. I have had it inn tea, a friend was familiar with it qualities as a dye, and I’ve had it in salad.

Ever Awaiting

Today was yesterday and
tomorrow too will be
the coat-hanger of other days
a similitude of view, ever
awaiting just one discordant note.

What To Wear?

To wear or not to wear,
damn that question,
or whether it is bolder to sail
in a sea of obsequious clothes
never asking.

With apologies to W. Shakespeare 🙂
