I Wound A Path
Many have tried to straighten the path of love,
to paint it smooth and make it certain,
but where is love without pain
or the threshold of uncertainty
that it might stir the heart
and rack one’s mind in sweet turmoil?
How could one surrender if there was
nothing to surrender for?
Where is triumph without a fall?
What dullness!
Not me. I wound a path
and risked the fall,
that was my contribution.
