For Ada, who we laid to rest today after a wonderful life lived for others, a friend who was more a true mother to ours and other families who were ever welcome in her home.

For Ada

No matter who came,
or how,
your door was always open,
nothing and no one was ever too difficult for you.
There was always a welcoming smile with a hug,
and a bottomless pot of tea,
a generous listening without solutions,
a love all embracing,
no judgement or guile lurked there.
You were stardust, magic, gift,
a welcoming warmth,
as mother to all,
you held us in your compassionate embrace,
while your life taught us unconditional love,
and gratitude for all that lives;
in you we have been truly blessed.
