Word of the Day – Quietus

“Life is a gamble at terrible odds – if it was a bet, you wouldn’t take it.”  Tom Stoppard

I saw you in the corners of my life,
you were always there,
uninvited you came
offering perverse intimacy
I could not resist
only indulge,
you always smiled,
and when you held me close
I feared you less,
accepting the quietus
from which love
draws strength.
