“I loved her, not for the way she danced with my angels but for the way the sound of her name could silence my demons.”  Christopher Poindexter

The Domino Effect

I chained my fevered mind
and tethered my wasted soul,
making incantations,
potions of restraint, yet
in a moment I swam an ocean,
ran a marathon,
and stupored I
wove a path of hiding
in plain sight,
all to no avail,
as I unleashed
my imagination unravelled
in your flesh,
possessed,
my defenses collapsed,
one by one
my chains fell off.
