At dVerse Grace is hosting Poetry Form with an invitation to write a Quatern – a sixteen line French form of four quatrains. Each line has eight syllables and cab rhymed or not. There is a refrain which is the first line becoming, in succession, line two, then three then four in the remaining stanzas. For more detail follow the link below:

“Individualism is a formidable lie.” Rene Girard
Not So Nuanced Am I alone on this vast road where others claim exclusive right, the lie that you can't know my way and I couldn't possibly know yours? Is our experience so nuanced? Am I alone on this vast road or do others feel what I feel when treading the painful places? It's true there's not one shade of blue, even grey has a varied hue, am I alone on this vast road, can any one feel as I do? Are we completely lost in self, rejecting all experience? Are we hermetically sealed? Am I alone on this vast road?

I am OK with being alone, as I find solitude enjoyable.

Oh yes. Especially in the frenetic seething world state through which we are, it is to be hoped, precipitately passing.

Everything happens is too suddenly and most of the time things are done without thinking.

I have spurts of wanting to be alone then wanting to be in company, but as an extrovert I get energy from being with others.

When confronted with any either-or proposition I first try the answer, “Both!” I find I have no problem at all applying it here.

I found the answer to the poem’s last line in poetry–and the answer is no.

I don’t think you are alone too. And I love that there are various shades of grey. Good question to ask Paul. Wishing you a good weekend.

That’s some question, Paul, and one that has been asked throughout history. I love the way you use colour to convey that we the same but different. I hope I’m not hermetically sealed!

Me too, don’t want to be sealed like that eh? Thank you very much Kim.

I don’t think you are alone on that vast road – many travel that road of seeking. Yes, the world is full of various hues each beautiful in its own way. A contemplative poem for the day.

Thank you so much – yes, not alone, and the hues are amazing, thankfully.

Well the comments here certainly sort the glass half full from the glass half empty and in answer to your poetically posed question – I don’t like to think that way and having found my way to the bar for the first time – it seems we are not alone…
