Rising – a poem by Paul Vincent Cannon

“Your wrinkles reflect the roads you have taken, they form the map of your life.” Diane von Furstenberg

Rising

You don't write
but your skin is a journal of
everything you ever felt,
a lace of vast connections,
those once golden tresses
now silvered wisdom
lighting the path,
the angst of youth now
poised and comfortable in
inevitable uncertainties,
you beauty, like a phoenix,
rises from life,
if I told you this you'd smile
that unbelieving smile.
