“There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in.” Leonard Cohen
Unless The irony of seeking that which cannot be, even when we know full well there is not even the remotest possibility of success, and still we pursue the end of the rainbow in the forlorn addicted hope we could be wrong. But there is no relief in this whirlwind of desperation where missing the mark is inevitable and perfection is a pointless fantasy, a ghost of some miserable future, unless, unless we refuse to play it that way. I think the pursuit of perfection in artistic endeavors can lead to satisfying results, even knowing that perfection is unattainable. In other areas of life striving for what you can’t have leads to disappointment, anger, and misery.

Yes, Tolstoy said the pursuit of it would leave us discontent, while others say it will help us develop. Damed if you do/don’t 🙂

A wonderful poem with a clever ending. Love the Leonard Cohen line, one of my favourites of his. Now there is a man who was searching, I’m not sure if he ever found what he was looking for.
You’re right about being damned if you do and damned if you don’t; I feel most content when I don’t search/strive for anything, yet I grow the most when I search and strive! 🙈
