“The cheaper the crook, the gaudier the patter.” Dashiell Hammett
All The Crooks Down on my street we're doing the mastication zoom, all talk has ceased while we chew the fat with toothy grins, of all the crooks we've ever known, names forgotten, spit out, fast talkers, Sam Bilk and all his ilk, light fingered smooth talkers. Now that’s an interesting take on “zoom”!

The world certainly has plenty of crooks to go around.

Nixon’s complete lack of irony was in the back of my head, but also the attempt at character defence by the British great train robber Ronald Biggs who tried to draw a distinction between crooks and criminals, crooks being nicer. I think politicians are mostly crooks, if not at the start – then soon afterwards.

And some of our politicians are actually criminals.

45 is the most recent, there was a cloud over Clinton (whitewater)? It astounds me that your regulations do not prevent criminals from running, it is law here that if convicted you cannot be in public office or be a company director and several other office positions.

For some reason, I had it in my head that a convicted felon couldn’t hold public office. Apparently I was wrong. It makes no sense.

It is certainly bad policy, here sexual misconduct or the appearance of it (not liaisons or affairs) result in dismissal, and would find you overlooked at nomination stage. I think the US will have to address it in the future.
