“The cheaper the crook, the gaudier the patter.” Dashiell Hammett

All The Crooks

Down on my street
we're doing the
mastication zoom,
all talk has ceased
while we chew the fat
with toothy grins,
of all the crooks
we've ever known,
names forgotten,
spit out,
fast talkers,
Sam Bilk and
all his ilk,
light fingered
smooth talkers.
