The Agony – a poem by Paul Vincent Cannon

“It is always easier to fight for one’s principles than to live up to them.” Alfred Adler

The Agony

In the shiver of night,
the agony,
a burden of the heart
feeling fiercely over the
blasphemy of speaking
without action,
a tragedy
met with indifference
for which there's no purification,
only the phantom of pretence ,
a drama in which we are all
complicit and all seeking
expiation before the dawn.
