“Too much of anything is bad, but too much whiskey is barely enough.” Mark twain

Aphrodite In A Glass

Velvet tango,
slow, slow,
seductive,
a voluptuary,
warm,
smooth,
the heat of soothe,
to be sipped with intention,
rolled around the tongue,
swallowed with care,
strangely,
it is masculine named
or geographically placed,
and yet in my experience,
whiskey is more subtle,
feminine and
called Aphrodite.

  5. There has to be both male and female whisky … who can call Laphroaig female?

  7. I like that description of how to enjoy the drink.
    “to be sipped with intention,
    rolled around the tongue,
    swallowed with care,”
I feel like I’m doing that when I read the words…so descriptive!

  8. Paul, love the quote and love your poem. I love the smell of single malt and whenever I take a sip, when my husband offers, it is truly “a voluptuary,
    warm,
    smooth,
    the heat of soothe,”!
