Detective Story – a poem by Paul Vincent Cannon

#2022 November PAD Chapbook Challenge

Day 14 14.11.22

Prompt: Take the phrase ‘[blank] Story’ (e.g. Tall Story) to create a title then write a poem for it.

Detective Story

What does the evidence say?
We have everything needed,
don't need a hanging judge,
the clues are everywhere,
finger prints and DNA for miles,
nothing hidden,
you had no shame,
leaving your love all over him
for everyone to see,
even so no charges will be laid,
there's no crime here
except the little death.
