Danger Close – a poem by Paul Vincent Cannon

#2022 November PAD Chapbook Challenge

Day 2 2.11.22

Prompt: Sweet

Danger Close

On my arm
her gingham self and
everyone said how sweet
when she smiled,
but her valentine eyes
belied the darkness of
her craven, lusting heart.

  1. Your use of “gingham” is particularly effective. I’ve seen the words “gingham” and “craven” anywhere near each other.
