My Song – a poem by Paul Vincent Cannon

“Love is a friendship set to music.” Hermann Hesse

My Song

My mind is a wound,
a volatile distress,
how does one love,
a look for agreement or
an acceptance of difference,
a knowing of weaknesses,
the hiding of truths,
what begins it and then,
how does one keep it?
All I know is to stumble
through with kindness as
my song with no lyric of
indulgence or self.
