How Many? – a poem by Paul Vincent Cannon

“I ransack public libraries, and find them full of sunk treasure.” Virginia Woolf

How Many?

It's been a while
since I visited the
local library.

I sat for some time
staring at all the shelves
bowed with books.

I wondered how many
remained unread and why,
and who would be drawn.

If I'd begun in earnest at
four there'd not be enough
time to read them all.

Still, I took four to make
a dent and keep faith
with all the authors.

  2. lol there are far too many books printed to even try and read them all! I was a Wodehouse fan, got to 56 and found out he’d written more than 70 novels so I gave up 😉
