Beyond – a poem by Paul Vincent Cannon

“Reality doesn’t impress me, I only believe in intoxication, in ecstasy, and when ordinary life shackles me, I escape, one way or another. No more walls.” Anais Nin

Beyond

I could describe this by mundane anatomy,
by arcane physiology, or even psychology,
naming steps, movements, the exhaustion
of language spent in breathless pursuit.

A nomenclature of moments cannot possibly
describe the sheer urgency of the softness
and welcome of folding with you into an
ecstasy beyond description, beyond reason,
beyond, until we let go.
