At dVerse De is hosting the Quadrille (44 words) with an invitation to write about salt.
dVerse Poets – Quadrille – Let’s Get Salty

“At sea a fellow comes out. Salt water is like wine, in that respect.” Herman Melville
The Saline Solution Lesions and tears of days bite into my tired, open self, wounds of experience bare and tender beneath my calm visage, offering notes of pain that remain as distant memory, yet delicious in their distorted recall, awakened in saline, a dead sea of emotion. Love this. I once submitted a chapbook titled “Salt Water and Other Solutions that Sting.” 😉 This line is particularly tasty: “delicious in their distorted
recall” Isn’t it strange how bitingly inviting that sting can be?

Yes, a double edged sword in a way, so deeply engaging, thank you De.

The salt of the earth? 😉
(Silly) question: do you still preach? Are you still a “Reverend”?
If you do (and are) your sermons must be interesting.
Cheers, Father. 🤗

People are very kind, they say my oratory is engaging and my content is stimulating 🙂 I’m soon to retire – taking up writing full time.

I think sometimes we may even long for the sting of such salt.

I liked this on first read but keep reading again. It’s like poking a sore, picking a scab, salting a wound.

Salt in wounds sounds painful. I am sure life at sea on a whaler was very hard, hence the Melville quote!
Vivid poem! “delicious in their distorted recall” is a magnificent description, Paul! ❤
