At dVerse Laura is hosting Meeting the Bar with an invitation to write a sonnet (14 lines 10 syllables) with a choice of rhyming traditions, while also starting and finishing each line with the same word. The theme is shadow in honour of the Shadow Sonnet as originated by Amera M. Andersen. For more Information follow the link below.
dVerse Poets – MTB – Some Shadowy Lines

“I would rather die of passion than of boredom.” Emile Zola
Shades Of Her She is so lovely to behold is she like summer warm florals and the like, see her perfect winsome ways you'll see psych not she holds my feelings like a psych. Ours the bond of love tight as ever ours, eyes hers so deep reflect so in mine eyes, powers of glistened lips through mine powers, flies the look between us just as time flies. But your love questions every doubtful but, that smile I do so love a smile like that, shut the door that all distractions may shut pat each other like how we love a pat. Kiss upon kiss to that unconscious kiss, matching strokes our shadow passions matching. Copyright 2022 ©Paul Vincent Cannon All Rights Reserved ®
Bravo! You did it! I couldn’t cope with it last night, but squeezed one out this morning.

Maybe one to attempt once we’ve understand the mechanics of the basic form. The frills just make it impossibly difficult otherwise.

this sonnet made me say “ah” several times over so it worked well! very touching, and a lovely light touch with the shadow lines that makes the reading so easy and smooth. I wish I had written this especially:
“flies the look between us just as time flies.”

Wonderful sonnet. I loved the lines “Kiss upon kiss to that unconscious kiss,
matching strokes our shadow passions matching.”
They sound musical! 🙂

That’s a nice thought, hadn’t thought of musical connections, but now that you mention it ….

You did it, and did it well, Paul. I do love the erotic visuals the couplet (in more ways than one) evoked.

You met the Shadow Sonnet challenge admirably well! (I’ll admit I was a bit distracted by thinking that the man and woman in the illustration are in fact hawking a television set.)

How that dates a generation, even though not hawking, we recognise the implicit message that is not there (are we programmed perhaps?)

Colleges use advertising as an easy way to introduce logical fallacies. (Buy this television, and you will live happily ever after with an adoring man (or woman) at your side. Nowadays, the message seems to be, if you can figure out what we’re selling AND if you know what it is, then you are the coolest of the cool people.

Which always makes me laugh, because to be cool in that way is to be dumb, at least in my estimation, lol, but yes that old manipulation is good and strong.

I agree that to be cool that way is to dumb, but hopefully some people grow out of it.
