dVerse Poets – Poetics – Rimas Dissolutas

“There is a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can’t take part, you can’t even passively take part ….” Mario Savio
Dereliction Of The Unthinking Herd The world right now is a dangerous place, though the danger is not what you'd think, it's not in adventures and risking as such, more dereliction of the unthinking herd. To ask a question with a serious face is a risk far greater than a poisoned drink, even worse than a kick in the crutch, never stand in the way of a crowd absurd. Government proles spout facts without trace, while angled cameras show a discernible wink, as they gather the trusting in a gleeful clutch, so well inured by their clever, smirking word. Thinking aloud comes at a cost without grace, ever the loud who would swallow you in a blink, frightened of your unboxed thoughts too much, they rally at your every thought with curd. I’m astonished at how much this resonates!

It seems to be the times, sadly, but in a different way I’m really thrilled it connected.

Very poignant and specifically pointed and potent Paul … maybe a ‘Kaleo’ song

I do like Kaleo. I keep hoping to wake up and leaders are leading and kindness has taken off.

I think we’ve gone beyond the dereliction of the unthinking herd to the stampede of the willful, militantly ignorant.

Yes, I see that in your part of the world, horrible, here its a more docile version, people just accept everything, go along with obvious lies and moronic actions, gah!

I think we were pretty much coasting along with the more docile version until he who shall not be named came along. ‘Nuff said.

Who is the government prole of which you write, Paul?

Ah, a composite really, I’m over the politicians and flunkies touting the economy over everything else, seems we’ll never learn.

That’s what the flunkies get paid for since a lot of that work goes to consultants these days.

Yes, I think we’ve ended up in a useless quagmire of self-serving and self-seeking people who inhabit our parliament(s).

Drives me mad thinking about the awful state of it all. We can do better ….

This is incredibly potent! I especially resonate with; “Thinking aloud comes at a cost without grace, ever the loud who would swallow you in a blink.” You did a fantastic job executing the form 🙂 Thank you so much for adding your voice to the prompt 💝💝

I couldn’t agree more, Paul! We’re not really encouraged to think independently or question authority nowadays, are we? Luckily, that’s where poetry comes in…

Sadly no, but yes indeed, the poetry, thank you Ingrid.

Thinking aloud comes at a cost without grace,
We have experienced that here in the US as well. On both sides of the political spectrum. Free speech comes with a cost and a restriction!

Yes, it’s on every side here, and a blind population to go with it.
