“Many a calm river begins as a turbulent waterfall, yet none hurtles and farms all the way to the sea.” Mikhail Lermontov
And One More Thing And one more thing, the unravelling strands of life frayed and stressed the length of my spine, about to disconnect my inner world, destroy the fruitfulness of my life's joy, those compulsory lies of overwork are the violence of those voices of the self who would see us dead for the sake of one more thing to be resolved, and then another, the constant staccato of the driven mind must one day find its sea. ©Paul Vincent Cannon
Poignant and intriguing writing. Amazing! Thank you for sharing Paul’s poem.❤

We are indeed our own worst enemy….always creating more self imposed stress and pressure…..I know I do.

Yes, I think it’s the human condition, we all self-accuse and load ourselves up (for various reasons), thank you very much Sandy for sharing that.

A great poem – an eye-opener to our life – when our negative tape plays – choose to listen to something else.

I enjoyed reading your poem, which can apply to many life situations. Thank goodness for the poets and artists who keep soul and authentic beauty alive in a society that is sometimes more concerned about production, to the point of overworked exhaustion.

So well observed, Paul! I think I’ll just slip into my little boat and paddle off towards the sea…

Some more soul-searching to figure out just what kind of burnout this is.
