“The light of morning decomposes everything.” Haruki Murukami

The Way The Sunlight Played

This morning I was captivated
by the way sunlight played so
joyously upon the leaves before me
and danced with the shadows,
dispelling some while welcoming
others, exposing everything and
inviting all to join the resplendent
moment, beckoning me to delight
and sing like a bird who has no
concern other than to celebrate life.

  7. I fully understand this poem, Paul.

Play of light, movement, that stimulates something in us.
Likewise, the living, insects and birds, pure expression of joy.

  14. The sun has the greatest influence on us humans. It was not without reason that the ancient Egyptians – and I believe the Maya too – worshiped the sun.

  16. So very lovely, Paul! My teacher in a painting class long ago advised, “Paint conditions, not objects!” Your lovely poem exemplifies that idea! ❤ Have a great day!
