“Some of the jam we thought was for tomorrow, we’ve already eaten.” Tony Benn
More So hot, the toast is steaming, melting the thick slices of butter into savoury pools, wafting its salty aroma as I layer juicy, thick, blackberry jam in all its decadent sweetness, rolling round my tongue, dripping down my chin, tantalising my senses, eliciting divine sighs, O' my goodness, the urge to have another. ©Paul Vincent Cannon
From “Alice Through the Looking Glass,” Lewis Carroll:
“The rule is, jam today, jam yesterday, but never jam today.”
I enjoy your poetry!

I had to laugh at this one. We bought some homemade blackcurrant jam – my favourite – but when I finally remembered and went to have some, my husband had already gobbled it all up. Guess I should forgive his impulse given your poem.

That I understand, I would have gobbled it up too, lol. Glad to bring laughter.

Oh, no! I certainly hope he did something to make it up to you.

Well, he did drive back to the little town where we originally bought it, but they were all out.

Blackberry season is late this year – normally I would have made some jam already, but tomorrow is the day! Especially after reading your poem. Can’t wait now.

I’d send you some, but it would be useless by the time it arrived, I had to go and have some too, beware the addiction.

But what is really our desire? The sweetness, or the salty one? 😉 Became hungry too, but i am on veggies. 😉 Michael

I have made my first batch of blackberry jam from Saturday’s pickings: 5 jars. Two to give away (one already), two for the pantry, one for now… unfortunately the kids were squabbling and managed to drop and break one jar already. So I shall have to go blackberrying again. 😀

Good Gracious! That picture made my mouth water.. I absolutely had no clue that a simple topic like bread and jam can be jotted down in the form of a poem so sensuously!
