Words Rained – a poem by Paul Vincent Cannon

“Some people feel the rain, others just get wet.” Roger Miller

Words Rained

Words rained down all around me
forming puddles along my path so I
took off my shoes and splashed about
in glimmers of feeling such that I
floated up out of myself looking for
a sentence of emotion that might
offer a beginning of understanding
of the life stored in my bones.

  9. I love the playfulness of children who choose to jump in puddles instead of walking around them. The first line in your poem also made me think of the children’s book, The Word Collector, by Peter H. Reynolds. Check it out. 😄

  10. Paul, this is wonderful! ❤ I like the metaphor of being out in raining words and splashing in puddles of words. Such a perfect description of inspiration, especially since I still love splashing barefoot in puddles! Have an inspiring week!
