“…. by participating in a ritual, participating in the myth, you are being, as it were, put in accord with that wisdom, which is the wisdom inherent within you anyhow. Your consciousness is being re-minded of the wisdom of your own life. I think ritual is terribly important.” Joseph Campbell
Rituals The sacred rituals of my day arise with some herbal tea and a greeting of some feathered friends while garden wandering to rejoice in yesterdays hard, loving work, a meal to prepare with tender zen-like intention with each move, then stilling down at days end, ancient viviers, wine in hand, recounting the day's treasures, storing them in each other to savour and sift at leisure, these are the sacred rituals of my day. ©Paul Vincent Cannon
What a lovely, mindful poem, Paul. And here I am, looking out of the window, chamomile tea in hand, watching the little waxbills on the birdfeeder…

Mostly it is daily now as we’re no longer away with work so much. And we really do enjoy them, I think it keeps me sane 🙂 many thanks Pat.

The simple rituals of our life are just as important as the larger ones – if not more so, for the that they restore our sanity. Mindful zen intention is what is needed now to bring us back in touch with what is most sacred. I love the quote by Campbell –
“…. by participating in a ritual, participating in the myth, you are being, as it were, put in accord with that wisdom, which is the wisdom inherent within you anyhow…’ For me, as a woman I feel akin to the rituals of Inanna. They hold deep wisdom. Wishing you a happy new year! May it be full of many blessings 😌✨

I walk through the house first thing in the morning opening the blinds to let the sunlight in. Decaf Earl Grey tea with half-and-half is my other morning essential.
Your rituals sound lovely, Paul. Maybe I should expand mine. 🙂

Well, perhaps, but we know our real selves and our rituals, don’t rush to change I say. I like the sound of yours Cheryl, and thank you.
