At dVerse Mish is hosting Poetics and has invited us to write about eyes.
dVerse Poets – Poetics – Look Into My Eyes

“Tears are the silent language of grief.” Voltaire
Held I offered a word of unction as soothe in the hard litany of life's steal of breath that you held in that moment of discordant caverns and clawed violins as the world slipped over its own edge, and your eyes declared a pulsing reach of heart that awakened in a welling of bearing held between us in a knowing, sharing, through solitary to a lifting connect, diminishing the awful theft of happiness, a restorative without need of voice, just deep eye-felt conversation. ©Paul Vincent Cannon

A sad romantic one, i think. You find a very impressive image for it. Thank you for sharing, Paul! Best wishes for the second half of this week. Michael

You show how empathetic eyes cross the divide of pain and suffering. I especially loved this phrase: “a pulsing
reach of heart” Lovely!

A beautiful flow of enjambment. I especially like this ….”as the world
slipped over its own edge”.

I was so happy when that line came it seemed to give the poem its point of meaning, thank you so much Mish.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words…and when two eyes connect they too are speaking a thousand words…
Clawed violins playing as the world slips over its own edge… sure feels that way these day!! Well done Paul.

Yes, looking for empathy, that deep connect in the midst of it all, thank you so much Dwight.

It is really different when we are all in the same place and vulnerable!

O, yes, I really agree Dwight, when we are vulnerable.

It pains me to see someone else’s eye well up with tears, and I never know what to say. Maybe I don’t need to say anything at all?

I learned just to sit and be a presence and not presume or intrude – so valued by the other.
