At dVerse Lillian is hosting the Quadrille and her invitation is to write (44 words) about happiness or a form of the word.
dVerse Poets – Quadrille – Happiness

“Happiness is a matter of one’s most ordinary and everyday mode of consciousness being busy and lively and unconcerned with self.” Iris Murdoch
I So Choose The waves crashed in rolling the shore like worn carpet in displaced surrender, revealing troves of shiny detritus unrelated in my minds eye, yet in my perceiving I teased out the synchronicities which were there all along, waiting for my happiness to be chosen. ©Paul Vincent Cannon
Beautiful, Paul. I especially liked the last line, “I teased out the synchronicities which were there all along, waiting for my happiness to be chosen.” ❤

Yes, that’s the crunch line too, and where I started the poem. Many thanks Cheryl.

Well, I must say I am told by family that I am too, and I am mostly happy even when circumstances would dictate otherwise.

This is a beautiful and meaningful post to the prompt.
These words “like worn carpet in displaced surrender,” are quite powerful in what they say and leave unsaid. The detritus that is left on shore….the pieces of life….and the choice to assemble or reassemble them.
A powerful post.

Perception is everything, how we choose to view a situation can be worlds apart from person to person, though it is up to find the beauty, nuggets of gold, silver lining, and rainbows among clouds, storms, and mundane of every day life.🌈😊

It sure is, Jung was of the view that we can shift ourselves into that space in spite of our circumstances, I’m finding that to be true for me. Many thanks for sharing.

Let’s add this as a verse to the Tao Te Ching, Paul. Excellent!

Well I consider that high praise Lisa, many thanks indeed. Just on the Tao, I wonder that it should be encouraged in schools ….

In word — and in deed. Teachers have to model the behaviors. It has to be a culture to work.
