Mish at dVerse is hosting Open Link Night when we are invited to submit a poem of our choice. dVerse Poets – Open Link Night

“The night is more alive and more richly coloured than the day.” Vincent Van Gogh
In A Silence I love the quiet place where the trees meet the water and where the stars are welcomed as friends who speak in a silence felt marrow deep as they search my dark corners, lessening the dull concerns of days lost of light and take me once again colouring outside the lines of the narrow, and out, out beyond, to the potent throb of life that lives in the veins of my freedom. ©Paul Vincent Cannon
“the quiet place where the trees meet the water and where the stars are welcomed as friends” – that must be the most beautiful place one can think of. I didn’t want to proceed ahead, it was that captivating. ❤️❤️❤️
“who speak in a silence felt marrow deep” – I had to google marrow-deep and when I understood its meaning I was awestruck.
Since the image and Vincent Van Gogh quote already sent me to the night, I was able to feel the darkness. And then that darkness searches our dark corners and activates the dormant light of life/hope. AMAEEZING! 🙏🙏🙏

I love how your long meandering sentence is so true to the way thought can glide along in silence. The marrow-deep silence that star-friends speak in. These are words to savor, and I thank you for offering such pleasure.

Your poem reminds me nights in the woods at camp. There was no ambient light, so when I stepped outside, I could feel myself becoming one with that soaring black of the trees into the sky.

Fantastic, with “stars seeking the dark corners”, and “freedom in the veins”. The last one could be added to a national anthem too. Michael
