Lillian at dVerse is hosting Poetics and has invited us to view four pieces of Catrin Welz-Stein’s art work as a visual stimulus to writing either an ekphrastic poem, or other poetic response. dVerse Poets – Poetics

“Beautiful moons make for special nights.” Verna Clay
Unlocking The Light Moon smiled and said, in a voice that floated, if you truly love me you'll find the welcome swallow who holds the key to my cosmic desire and fly to me that I may unlock the light dispelling shadow darkly deep, that is yours, and mine. ©Paul Vincent Cannon
Love the art and your response, Paul.

I think you’re the first one using this image, who’s written in the voice of the moon. Love it! And most especially these words:
“find the welcome swallow
who holds the key to my
cosmic desire and fly to me”

A perfect ekphrastic expression of the surreal painting! (There is something about the painting that really appeals to me.)

Yes, there were four choices, all wonderful, but birds and keys and moon just sold itself instantly. Thank you for the your expressive response Liz.

I have often pondered that the moon is far more invitational to intimacy that any other star, including the sun. I’m encouraged to think that it brought some joy.
