“An imbalance between rich and poor is the oldest and most fatal ailment of all republics.” Plutarch
Mind The Gap Herald of bad tidings, grimy sloth, slippery grease slime money bag of hypocrisy and venality belonging to that self-impregnating cabalistic horde who sold their souls while like dogs in heat for the lusted promise of one more crooked dollar to feverishly snatch from the hope of lives devalued, being left to deconstruct their love in abject, lonely missery as if they were deserving of a punishment so severe for the crime of being born. Will it ever end, I wonder. I feel the rage in your words, Paul.

Probably not, we might be able to wash covid off cash but the money grubbers can’t be washed from it at all. Rage is right, the wealthy disgust me (and with rare exception) and always with the philanthropy for defence. Thank you VJ, the big red button got pushed today π

Cindy I use Pilcrow but it may no longer be there, as it was 2013 I chose it, but I liked its clean slate look. I live cluttered, but I donβt like my site to look cluttered. I think there are some newer themes that come close to it. Many thanks for visiting. Yes, looking forward to visiting you. Breakfast down here, off to work.

What strikes me even more about your poem is that the accompanyhing quote is from Plutarch. The gap between rich and poor isn’t any closer to being closed after two thousand years! Two thousand years!! And he was right. That imbalance spells death to a republic.

Yes, it was the clear death of all that have gone before us, and weβre watching it now. Iβm a bit overheated about it. Thanks Liz, a helpful connect.

You’re welcome, Paul. As long as the people who have the most cash are the ones who are elected to positions of power, our governments will remain corrupt.

It sure does, and I’ve always viewed philanthropy as warped power charity anyway. If the rich were serious about charity they’d put an end to poverty and not keep feeding it (here endeth the sermon again).

Sorrow and hatred well up in my heart, as I watch it getting worse. So much worse. Corruption persists, is even blatant. Control measures are too little and far to late. The gap widens, the queues for bread and handouts lengthen. Cry, the beloved country, indeed.
South Africa. The most unequal country in the world. Let our fury fly.

The injustice of the capitalistic system is that it ravages the vulnerable. It IS infuriating, to say the least! Well-done, Paul!
