“You can find me in the frozen mood section.” Henry Rollins
Gently Mocked The day was perfect, but I found its fault where no fault lay, I beat upon its languid warmth, sneered at its sunlit leaves, belittled its calm and cheery air, and, all the while unblemished, it gently mocked my jaded mood. ยฉPaul Vincent Cannon
I love the self-deprecating humor in this short poem. ๐

Yes indeed, way too much self pity, ๐ and what a laugh.

Living in Covid land, I’ve spent way too much time in the frozen mood section.
This is a a wonderful piece, Paul.

I think in this year of 2020 we all find ourselves stuck in a somber mood from which there appears no escape any time soon. It’s compounded by the memories of the shattering of America’s innocence 19 years ago today on September 11, 2001. Thank you for this poem.

I am honoured to know that you have found resonance in such circumstances. Where did that 19 years go? I wonder that there has been so much tragedy since 2011 it is compounded grief as well? I do hope healing will come for you, for the nation, but sooner rather than later.

This completely captures the pessimist in me!

Poetry is so disarming. Iโm intrigued, would you be a pessimist with a side of optimism, or an optimist with a side of pessimism?

I was about to say, definitely the former, but then I thought again. I usually start off all optimistic, then start to think about everything that might possibly go wrong. I blame it on a long career in risk management!

That would certainly do it, I have only attended workshops, can’t imagine a career in it, that would certainly be indelible.

Paul, elegantly stated. We need to recapture that child-like sense of wonder!
