Startled – a poem by Paul Vincent Cannon

“Lovers don’t finally meet somewhere. They’re in each other all along.” Rumi

Startled

I was suddenly possessed by
what had been spoken and just
as suddenly feeling that I was
complete, whole, floating in a
warm sea of shifting thoughts
so rare, slipping through those
layers gently truthful and
hidden in her inner landscape,
where I sleep a different sense
startled by her beauty.
