Mish at dVerse has invited us to write a quadrille (44 words) using the word drum. dVerse Poets

“You can’t make a mistake when you improvise.” Patti Smith
The Many One The steady predictable rhythm, rat, tat, tat, tat, of that single snare drum unleashed our arhythmical froward, we went into the street, with pans, tins and bins and we beat a revolution, ba-dum, dum, tat, boom, one tune, many beats the difference of one. ©Paul Vincent Cannon
Nice last two lines comparing one and many.

Many hands but one goal. Revolution or Evolution? That is the question, Hamlet has not remembered. 😉

Great poem Paul! The drumbeat seems to be the unifying force that actually brings about change!

If only all the hearts could beat to the same drum of equality, kindness, acceptance. It would be a great rhythm.

I watched a documentary about her not too long ago.

I enjoyed her autobiography, did’t give much away though and it’s hard to fix time around her life as she tells it, I think she wrote it s prose really. I’d imagine the documentary would give detail.

The documentary gave some detail. I remember it as being quite quirky. (Not surprising!)

Yes, good word, quirky indeed, for me she’s really like Dylan, out of the box.

“To the beat of the drum”. (Do you know the song?)
(By the by, you have a typo: fRoward)
(Happens to me all the time)
Cheers

I do know the song – just a note to say that froward is the word I wanted – rebellious.

You really beat me there. had no idea about the word ‘froward’. Looked it up and the story behind it. Makes sense though. To(wards) and fro(ward). Refreshed ‘untoward’ along my search. Thanks for the new word. (Just wonder when I can place in the conversation?) Cheers.

I read it eons ago in some study, long forgotten, normally I draw attention to an antiquated term with a note, but I was in a hurry that time. No smiles were raised as I understood the reason.

Meant to say thank you 🙂

Don’t mention it. Learnt my lesson. Next time I spot an alleged typo in your writing I will check it first. Take care.

Love all the drumbeat sounds in this. Made the poem dance. Also, your quote is from my all-time favorite person. If you’ve never seen her live, you must.
