Slowly Unlocked – a poem by Paul Vincent Cannon

dVerse Poets – The Perfect Seven Lines

Frank at dVerse has invited us to write a poem of our choosing – the challenge is to write only seven lines (I’m not sure about perfect lines though).

“The only virtue is reckless love.”  Arif Naseem

Slowly Unlocked

Waylaid, I ordered tea,
the streets were empty, though
this one was unknown to me,
her entrance was undeclared
though not unnoticed and we
slowly unlocked our dreams
in this strangest of times.

  1. I like your description of their meeting with the empty streets where they could slowly unlock their dreams.

  2. This has a romantic feel, the daring to meet when every where is quiet.

  3. Nice. Here in America, no strangers talk to one another any more. Most are wearing masks. Many refuse to meet your eye as well. But the eyes which do meet yours have a special twinkle — we both suspect there is much more good going on here than bad. Please don’t overtire yourself, my friend, and leave yourself vulnerable to removal when so many are benefitted by your continued presence. Self care is part of this Lesson. 😚

  10. Yes, they can lockdown a lot of things, but hopefully not our thoughts, and mind. Well written, Paul! Thank you! Michael
