“‘Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.” Alfred Lord Tennyson
I Wound A Path
Many have tried to straighten the path of love,
to paint it smooth and make it certain,
but where is love without pain
or the threshold of uncertainty
that it might stir the heart
and rack one’s mind in sweet turmoil?
How could one surrender if there was
nothing to surrender for?
Where is triumph without a fall?
What dullness!
Not me. I wound a path
and risked the fall,
that was my contribution.

The path I wound was yellow, and paved with bricks. Also, there were flying monkeys.

Well I think it sucks, not your poem, but the concept. Do we really have a choice in the matter?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Well yes, but I think it might be a bit ordinary in that space 🙂

Yes, one needs to be brave when one falls in love.
My path is one that is heavily corrugated, with misty red dust and big, pot holes but I love the bumpy ride 🙂

That’s good to hear Paul and hope you continue to keep well.
This is an emotionally exhausting time for so many reasons but self care at this time is crucial, especially when helping others. But, I know you know this, too.

Yes, so, are you properly self caring?

Truthfully, in a word, no! I feel like I’ve lost my compass! Hope you’re doing better than me!

That sounds very grief-like, I am sorry to hear that, but I am not in the least surprised as you have a very energised life that nurtures your soul both in work and nature. I do hope you find something that speaks to you deeply in all of this in some way, or that maybe your feelings may touch others in your writing.
