“There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that’s your own self.” Aldous Huxley
Petit Coin (small corner)
I wanted a corner just for myself,
a grammar of sanctuary
giving rise to a language of
resistance to the noise
that has become the world
building a rough nest
in the habitation
where my soul once played
out epiphanies of great joy,
just a small corner of repose
that I might re-member myself.

We all need that little corner of repose. I like the idea of ‘re-membering’. Reinventing would suit me.

So true, and well based on Huxley’s quote. Michael

I like Huxley, Orwell said governments would overrun us, but Huxley said we’d be responsible for our own mess.

So true, Paul! We are deciding which governments we want to have.

I think the truth is between the two, but Huxley is right, we surrender the ground.

Yes, that place of serenity, so much noise in the world, I pine for it most days. Thank you very much.

I like this, this small corner,
Where I sit now, writing this, is my small corner, no noise invasion (silent TV/radio) and I can turn this PC off whenever I want.

This poem speaks to me. I had found my corner, but now we’re moving and I have to find it once more!

I wonder if that’s mixed feelings about a corner? Chance of new, but unsure of the change? Thank you for sharing your experience Beverly.

I have found that sometimes you can create that corner when you least expect it … even in the middle of a crowd.
