“It takes a long time to become young.” Pablo Picasso
Another Me
In the mirror I am older now,
the taut youthful skin a little sallow,
and at times my body cries to slow,
but there is another me
who resides behind my eyes,
looking out on the world
as I have always done,
the young me
who lives past age.

Age is judged by the appearance of our body, yet spirit has no age, it simply offers who we are. I love seeing spirit through the eyes.

We are who we are inside, even though many societies attempt to marginalize that
spirit as we age. I say good luck keeping this old coot down (Ha!)

Yes, reigned in at society level, but unleashed inside, I like your spirit Sandy.

I have a “young me / who lives past age,” too. I like how you say that the young me “resides behind my eyes.” You’ve captured this feeling perfectly.

Yes, I guess we need maturity to appreciate youth 🙂

You are so right…behind it all, we feel the same, then get such a shock when we have a glance in the mirror lol. Well, I guess I should speak for myself 🙂
