“Too many of us now tend to worship self indulgence and corruption.” Jimmy Carter
Usurped
The devil took the high ground
and kicked Christ to the kerb,
the saloon bar erupted,
nothing like this before,
the incarnation kid was
clearly out of sorts,
stumbling like a drunkard through
the wide berth of the crowd,
he fell upon the ropes
as the whistle called time out
his coach could see the problem,
confusion clouded eyes
usurped by strange love,
that bit of love your neighbour
was spun to love yourself.

The imagery and implications in this Paul. Thought provoking.

I guess it’s how I’m seeing the world play out right now, well sort of. Thank you so much VJ

You got it, most. I think Jacinda Arden in NZ is showing the way though, and the woman in Iceland too.

Everyone except the prime minister of New Zealand and the one in Iceland – the rest – meh.

Lies, narcissism, entitlement, and it goes on and on … I continue to have hope in the next generation, though. This, too, shall pass.

Yes, this too shall pass – a bit like a nasty kidney stone, but it will pass. I yearn for a change in my life time though, I had higher hopes in the 70s.

Sadly that’s not going to happen. It will take years to undo his train wreck

train wreck … he’s caused more damage than a world war!

Yes, very perfect for our times, and they will never end. Wonderful poetry, and a true quote of Jimmy Carter (the former and later Peanut farmer) too. I mentioned his farming work, because here in the past someone spoke of “peanuts”, and meant a lot of lost tax money. 😉 Michael
