“Monsters know when they are recognised ….” Thomas Harris, Cari Mora.
Leviathan Has Departed
As the dark waters of the minutiae
of our lives roll back
we discover that leviathan has departed,
for there is no depth for it to dwell,
and we wonder how it was so,
though it was purely by our design
that we fed it and nurtured its presence
only to find ourselves exposed
once it became obvious
that it was no more than
our fertile imaginations
which held us in its grip.

I had to think about this one for a while. We create our own monsters and the depths in which they dwell? But when we no longer feed them, they just depart?

Absolutely, we make our own monsters, and we do have the power to let go of them. So liberating. Thank you for pondering Liz.
