“Ruined land was accepted as the collateral damage of progress.” Robin Wall Kimmerer
To Be Made Whole
Even before the flames extinguished
my thoughts were drawn
to broken things
like a box of children’s toys
grown old, less loved,
discarded by the way,
and so my wish was formed
around my sorrow
for all the broken ones
to be made whole.

I learned a very long time ago that my youthful idealism was never going to save the world, but I could make a difference in my little corner of it, even if it’s just showing a little kindness in an every day encounter. But I still have that yearning to do more.

Yes, I would say the same, kindness and love – taking action, but always seeking that next step. Thank you for sharing Liz.

Short but sweet. It started sad but in the end hope prevails. I loved this poem. 🙂
