“Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside awakes.” Carl Jung
Only Sleep Redeems
The night settles like velvet chocolate
smooth, blanketing my soul with a warmth
that curves my vision
where I am one, even
as the skeletons of life arise
and rattle my sense
of times past,
a purgative review of
exasperated possibilities that
were hard to grasp and which
only sleep redeems,
seeking transformation
for a new day.

Wonderful piece! 🙂
One tends to transcend dreams during the night — unless one ate something that throws things off — and then a less chaotic silence manifests instead. Then one approaches the wakening day without a lot of nonsense regurgitating.

Lol, yes, I know those days of silence. Yes transcendence. Thank you so much Tom 🙂

Paul, your dream-cleansed mind is rocking! Just turning out some indelible phrases and images, I love “the skeletons of life arise/and rattle my sense of times past”

Ah, sleep…better dreams. Love that the night is chocolate.

I’ve never associated sleep with redemption, but yes, I think “redemption” is the right word, although not all sleep brings redemption.

True Liz, not all sleep, but some dreams may help. Thank you.

sleep is a refresh unless one can control/monitor their dreams …
Jung said something right, look inside 🙂
