The Wakening – a poem by Paul Vincent Cannon

Wake – RDP Monday

“A single event can awaken within us a stranger totally unknown to us. To live is to be slowly born.”  Antoine de Saint-Exupery

The Wakening

She’d lived a normal life
of few events
and fewer aspirations,
a monotonous drudging dressed up
in perfect debts and shiny griefs,
and in this darkened hallowed space
where coloured windows frowned
and judgment rang out of its very walls,
the eulogy came knocking at my mind and
I was compelled to resurrection
rose and fled the door mid amen,
and vowed to find my life.

  5. There is more to life than eating, breathing and sleeping. Live it! Take risks! Try new things, don’t hide from the unknown, don’t live life in a rut. Good poem!
