Vibrant
I invited you once to tea
in those salad days of summer past,
you were a vibrant garland
that bordered my soul
with hope.

Note: the humble Calendula – Marigold, is one of my fave flowers. I have had it inn tea, a friend was familiar with it qualities as a dye, and I’ve had it in salad.

I think of it as India’s national flower, they use it in garlands for gods and prolifically for wedding decorations … they must have acres of it for all the blooms I’ve seen.
I’ve had it in salad but never in tea 🙂

I totally agree with Kate. The mention of the word flower always brings marigolds to mind. 😊

I always plant marigolds throughout my vegetable garden! I love the first two lines “I invited you once to tea, in those salad days of summers past!” Right away I am envisioning a tea party in the garden!

Love marigolds too. They stand tall in the worst heat and humidity of summer.

How delightful, here they go from late winter right through to autumn, depending on time of planting of course, and they shout colour and life.

Yes, and as they’re my fave non-indigenous plant it is such a delight to have that energy they bring.

Beautiful poem. I love Marigold too. It’s a perfect companion to vegetable plants especially the tomato.
