Possible

Now
after so long
it seemed possible
and in proximity
as we were
alone
close
my hand reached out for yours
a risk to break the impasse
of tenterhooks and butterflies,
awaiting reception
or, God forbid
a retraction, no
and as I turned
you leaned in,
and our hearts
were in our eyes.
