Resting – dVerse Poets – Pub Talk
Photo: Baladjie Rock, Westonia, part of the Great Western Woodlands, and as you can see it is alongside the extensive Baladjie Salt Lake system. One of a multitude of places I find restful.
The Real Work
I had plans for this afternoon
but plans had otherwise
a momentary distraction
I wandered in Eden
then sat for awhile
caressed by the sun,
as birds sang arias while
insects buzzed coded smiles
the flora seductive,
and the work of the day faded
I was as light as air
my shoulders unfettered,
I drifted beyond,
and I smiled knowing that
the real work had just begun.

I love the setting, both in the photo and in your meditative poem. The water looks like it could heal just about anything or anyone.

I like that image of ‘the work of the day faded’ almost as the day faded.

I can safely say you are not alone in having that feeling, many would concur. The trick is getting the balance right, which is the challenge!

Yes, just the place to watch the machine fade.

I know this landscape so well! And, I too seek and find this kind of “work” every day. The poem reminds us how restorative this is. Thank you for highlighting this.

Mystical and lyrical almost—-and a great opening to what is the real work in life. ๐
Blessings to you, and thanks for this.

So, if I’ve got it right–first we get into a quiet restful space…prayer, meditation, whatever our bent which leads to a relaxed mind/heart/spirit…and then we can begin productive work of the day. How am I doing?
