A Shared Space

In the garden of restoration
there is a chair,
another too,
an invitation
with table and wine,
a sharing amidst nature’s
colours and sounds,
that sweet moist air,
and the silence craved at day’s end.
A sanctuary to ponder madness
To dream our dreams,
and to divine purpose,
though not an end
of all our being.

  1. Such an uplifting poem just when Winter is becoming quite old! Love the quote at the beginning, as well. Around here, many folks have that famous poem displayed in their gardens as I do:
The kiss of the Sun for pardon,
The songs of the birds for mirth,
One is nearer God’s heart in a garden
    Than anywhere else on Earth.

Hokey poem or not, I can’t wait to get back in my garden…๐Ÿ˜Š
    Thanks for posting!

  7. Creating, and maintaining, a garden sanctuary amid chaos is no easy task, Paul, yet your words encourage me to continue trying any way. โค

  8. Wow. I love this, Paul. You have quite a good writing style, I experience the depth of it inside of me as I read your work.

The end reminded me of a quote in my most recent blog post. It’s from Dag Hammarskjรถld who did great peace work for the U.N. (I wrote about my visit there last week.):

“We all have within us a center of stillness surrounded by silence.โ€

    Blessings to you, Paul.
